Jorgé, played by James Cotner, is a young Mexican who wants to embark on a dangerous quest of the American Dream. Tossing aside a lucrative career in Mexico, Jorgé takes up an illegal journey across the border. Carrying contraband for people who ship him across is only a few of the things he has to do to come across. When he finally makes it to the "other side" after several brushes with death, he discovers the new face of the State Apparatus in an America that has turned inwards, and is no longer friendly to immigrants.
In America, Jorgé runs into Susan, played by Judy Vibar, who's been there and done that a few times over. Susan gives Jorgé a glimpse of the human condition through the psychological barrier of illegality. And Jorgé, having now arrived, is faced with a crucial decision about his life. |
